Dix Hills Woman Driving Drunk With Five Kids In Car Crashes Mercedes-Benz, Police Say

A 47-year-old was driving drunk with her 13-year-old daughter and four other children in the car when a Mercedes-Benz crashed into a utility pole on Long Island, police said.

The incident happened at about 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31 in Deer Park, Suffolk County Police said.

Jacquelin Moore, of Dix Hills, was driving the 2012 Mercedes on Acorn Street, near Half Hollow Road, when she crashed the vehicle into a utility pole, police said. 

A 16-year-old female passenger was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. The four other passengers, 15-, 13- and 12-year-old girls, and a 7-year-old boy were not injured. The children were released to the custody of family members.

First Squad detectives charged Moore driving while intoxicated, four counts of Aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years or younger (Leandra’s Law) and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday, Sept. 1.
